BIO
Under the moniker of TRESS, Victor Goemaere sculpts sounds into sharp, propulsive elements and weaves them together into highly emotional, textural and polyrhythmic compositions. Mainly focussing on modern synthesis and sampling techniques he hovers on the border between the artificial and the organic. This provokes an intuitive sonic landscape, where the world of cinema, club music and the cosmos are crosscutting each other in fast speed.
Coming from a more noise-oriented background he has been involved in multiple bands within the scene over the years. His approach to composing and playing the electric guitar converged in the band Youff. Their music is influenced by contemporary composers such as Glenn Branca, No Wave pioneers Swans and Black Metal innovators like Liturgy. As an ongoing exploration of the guitar, he recently started studying classical music, thereby also expanding his technical and compositional skills.
In addition to his music, and drawing upon his educational background in audiovisual arts, he works in post-production for film, theatre and installation. This includes sound design, editing, mixing and composing. By engaging in a close dialogue with the director or artist, these collaborations frequently lead to profound synergy and close cooperation.
