Maan Methven is an audio/visual artist, film director and sound artist based in Brussels. She studied film at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent and developed a multidisciplinary artistic. Through film, photography, text, music and sound compositions she seeks to give expression to a hyper-sensitive, visceral inner life; World of Maan.
Nurtured by embodied voice work and somatic experiencing therapy, her recent work revolves around the act of restoring (of intimacy), regenerating (of the landscape) and revitalizing (of our bodies). In the search for new rituals and collective mourning practices, she is currently developing a vocal sound sculpture and experimental film in a burnt forest, in collaboration with her partner, musician and sound designer Victor Goemaere. In addition she creates music with her ambient/drone band Zemlya. In 2025, she co-founded The Ground, a production platform for film, art and education interweaving ecology, consciousness and storytelling.
